Going Covert Should You Invest In A Rival

Going Covert Should You Invest In A Rival Businesses need to compete with each other. If they don’t, quite frankly there will be a severe lack of motivation pushing them forward. You need a Samsung to an Apple. You need a Ferrari to a Mercedes. You need to have an eBay to an Amazon. Competition makes everyone better. Its kind of like in sports, you will eventually have one team that is better than the rest but even still, soon they too will wither and begin to crumble. They need someone to bounce off of and use to your advantage. You’ll be more inclined to set yourself apart from your rivals, be more distinct in your very nature and give consumers multiple reasons to pick you over the rest. So when you are trying to make some money in the stock market, competition is your savior. Indeed, it can also be your downfall as if you back the wrong horse, you’ll be the one with egg on their face; meaning a loss of funds. How is it possible to notice the signs of the winning horse and to understand how you should go about inves ting in it? A yield says it all The yield of a bond or the upturn of the stock are the signs you should be looking for once invested. This is after all the overall aim; to multiply the money you have invested. However you will be dealing with percentages when it comes to yields so you should be well aware of what that actually means regarding a particular investment. Yield doesn’t necessarily mean how much profit you will be making, as it can also refer to the increase in the price of the stock. The yield dividend is something you should also study, as the company you invest in might have multiple or several other investors. Therefore they will need to split the profit made from the increase in worth of the their stock. For example if you buy a stock for $20,000 with the share price standing at $200 with a current dividend yield of 5%, the dividends will pay out $1,000 in total. This of course can be reinvested into buying more stock to multiply your standing. Investing in a rival Judging by the dividend yield propositions you can judge who is successful in your industry. Every business needs to invest money into the market, as somewhat of a savings policy. Learn how to invest in the stock market and notice certain characteristics about how successful companies will operate. They will only increase their stock price when they have good evidence to suggest they are going above and beyond their objectives. You don’t necessarily need to invest into an immediate rival, but a company that is in your industry and is showing signs of making great products that don’t conflict with your own, should be considered a viable option. Investing in a rival can be incredibly lucrative as you know what is going on in your industry. They might have a brilliant product or service, but you can ultimately judge their performance by studying their movements on the stock market.

Perfect Resume Ideas for Freelancers - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. As a freelancer, you dont have the same experiences as someone in a big company. For a start, you cant be promoted since you are already at the top of your own business! But this doesnt mean that you cant create a resume that isnt just as effective. In fact, for freelancers, the humble resume is just the thing to give potential clients a taste of your skill set, experience, and talents. So what makes the perfect resume? There is no reason that a great resume template cant work perfectly as a base for you though if you want to show off your design skills, you might want to make some modifications! Tweet This So what makes the perfect resume? Well, for a start, you should stop worrying about making it so unique that it is barely recognizable. There is no reason that a great resume template cant work perfectly as a base for you though if you want to show off your design skills, you might want to make some modifications! Here are a few other ideas to get you started. source Use Keywords One of the most important aspects of SEO is the proper use of keywords and it is no different when it comes to writing a resume. Some employers actually use bots to spool through the number of resumes they receive but even if they dont, people tend to skim through text to find what they are looking for. If you arent sure whether you are using the right keywords, Jobscan is a great reference point. With a list of 500 keywords to browse and a scanning tool that compares your resume to the job description, you will have a much better idea of what to aim for. The problem with these hundreds of identical resumes is that all of them look alike, like clones. Moreover, some of them are almost as annoying as spam messages, which have miraculously gotten through a spam filter. How to observe the rules of business etiquette and make your resume to stand out from the crowd at the same time? Here is a surprising, but effective action plan How to Write a Killer Resume Keep It Brief A resume should be a single page document that covers as much as possible but this doesnt mean that you can ramble on. You need to be as efficient with the space available as possible which means that you need to curate the details you include and be as brief as possible everywhere else. Unlike a CV, you dont need to include your complete job history, you can just pick out your best highlights. For example, if you have worked for a big brand name, this is the time to show that off! source Be Confident You might be quite modest in person but your resume is no place to hold back. You need to present yourself in the best light in order to show off your experiences and your potential. If you want an employer to know how much value you can add to their business, you need to give them a reason to hire you and not another freelancer. If you arent sure how to be confident without sounding like a jerk, you should start with the facts. Put down any quantifiable results and explain what you did to get there. If you worked with a team or built on someone elses work, dont be afraid to put that in. No good work happens in a vacuum. Photo by James L.W on Unsplash Tell a Story You might not have the space for a full-blown epic poem written in iambic pentameter but you definitely have room for a dragon-slaying story. For all that a dragon slaying story wont actually contain a dragon, the principle is simple: theres a problem, you provide a solution and the lasting impact is seen in x, y and z. This kind of story shows that you are aware of the way that businesses run going in and can spot the areas that require improvement. Plus, as a freelancer, you can show this over and again, choosing from a variety of stories and picking out the one that will tempt in your next client in particular. Bringing personality to a resume can be quite a challenge in so little space but there are a couple of methods you can use. For example, even if your CV will be read by a bot, it should still scan well to a human being. Writing in your own voice is a good place to start and a more conversational tone is appropriate in most situations now. Call to Action Finally, every resume should come with a call to action at the bottom of the page. This might be a link to your website which contains much more information about your work and experience but it might simply be an email address and an offer to get in touch. If a potential employer doesnt have anywhere to go immediately after reading your resume, you are increasing the chances that they are going to stick in their filing system and never return to it. The easier you can make it for them to continue researching you or get in touch to set up a meeting, the more likely they are to do it. What's next? Ready to take action? The most underutilized job search tool - Hallie Crawford

The most underutilized job search tool I recently had a great interview with Jada Graves from USNews.com about informational interviews and I wanted to share some additional thoughts with you based on that conversation. Heres a link to the article I was interviewed for as well: http://money.usnews.com/money/careers/articles/2012/07/26/what-is-an-informational-interview-anyway I think informational interviews are one of the most underutilized tools in career transition. People either dont know about them, or are uncomfortable conducting them and reaching out to people they dont know to learn more about an industry. Informational interviews are one of the best tools you have at your disposal to expand your network in a new field for you, learn about what its like to work in that industry and to possibly land a job as a result of that networking. Dont be shy. Many of my career coaching clients initially hesitate to reach out to people to set up interviews like this, and I understand that hesitation, especially when the contact is cold or someone that you dont know. I encourage you to get over that hesitation. You need to realize that people do these every day. Its an incredibly helpful tool in your job search, and the worst thing the contact can say is no or just ignore your request! So get over your fears. Find that confidence inside you that has taken risks in the past, and reach out to your network to find people you can talk with. Set a goal for a certain number of interviews per week as well and stick to it! Good luck and I hope this is helpful to you. Career Transition Coach P.S. Are you frustrated with your job search? How to ask for a letter of recommendation

How to ask for a letter of recommendationAt every professional stage in life (job searching, job switching, promotion seeking), there will come a time when you need to ask someone to write you a letter of recommendation. Though not as common as they once were, many would-be employers still want to know that someone vouches for you. googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display(div-gpt-ad-1467144145037-0) ) If the thought of asking someone to say nice things about you makes you nervous, dont worryits awkward for everyone. Here are a few tips on how to make the asking as easy as possible for everyone involved.Ask someone who really likes you. This seems like a given, but its worth stressing only ask people you are certain will say wonderful, glowing things about you. Just because you worked for someone and did the bare extremum doesnt mean he or she thinks fondly of you. If you were forgettable, youre going to get a bland and generic letter.Remember, this doesnt always have to be a f ormer (or current) boss. A colleague at your level is fine so is someone youve worked with on volunteer projects outside of work. The key is that he or she can vouch for the exact skills the partie receiving the letter wants in an employee.Offer to clarify. The mora information you give, the easier it is for someone to knock out a letter. After you receive a yes, get specific. After saying thank you (always say thank you), describe in detail the specific job youre applying for and what talking points would be most useful. You can give a list of skills the hiring manager wants in an applicant and remind the person youre asking about how you have exhibited those skills in the past. It can also be helpful to outline some of your recent and past achievements for them to reference without having to look them up or ask.Be prepared to draft it yourself.A lot of times busier people will ask you to sketch out (or write entirely) the letter by yourself. Always say yes. Take the list of achieve ments this person knows youve accomplished, match them up with the list of requirements from the job posting, and go to town. In most cases, he or she willlook it over, make a few cosmetic changes, and then sign it. Youve made everyones life easierRespect peoples time.Waiting until the last minute and then saying, Please get this to me tomorrow, is rude and inconsiderate. Your letter of recommendation is not among the most important things in someones life, and no one should have to drop everything just because you were too lazy to ask in advance. Give someone at least a week (and ideally two or three) to get you a letter.Just ask.Popping the question can be hard, but you wont get a letter if you dont ask for it. Yes, you might feel uncomfortable asking someone to do a favor for you, but if youre smart about who you ask and pick someone who only has glowing things to say, chances are he or she will be more than happy to do it. Give the key details, throw in a little flattery, and as k away.

How to use Twitter for Networking

How to use Twitter for Networking Share Share via TwitterShare via FacebookShare via Google PlusShare via LinkedInShare via E-mail Social media can be a powerful networking tool, connecting you to professional communities and timely conversations around the world, but making those anfangsbuchstabe connectionscan be very intimidating. Here are some guidelines to help you use Twitter to network.Make an account. If you already have a personal Twitter, consider creating an account that is solely for your professional social media rather than folding your professional content into your personal accounts timeline. If you go viral with professional content on a mixed-use account, that selfie from six years ago might come back to haunt you. Likewise, think very carefully about handlesfor professional accounts, your name or a word or phrase that is connected with you or your work might be a better choice than an in-joke from your undergrad days.Use appropriate renommees for your icon and cover photo. Twitter provides aplaceholder image that used to be an egg, which troll accounts typically use and are often called eggs by longstanding Twitter users. A popular option in Twitters settings, for example, allows users to ignore all responses from accounts using the default image placeholder. A distinct image, even if its leid of you, allows you to signify that you are not a troll.Bonus tip Pinned tweets are a good place to put a link to your last paper or talkFind your people.Once youve made an account, identify people who are talking about the issues you want to be a part of. A good way to identify fellow professionals is to watch for conference hashtags and then see which accounts are posting on those hashtags. You can also use the search tool to look for conversations involving keywords or phrases, and identify accounts that are starting or contributing to those conversations.A word of caution dont respond to conversations that are mora than a week old it is con sidered poor etiquette for Twitter. Likewise, when you follow someone or gain a new follower, dont DM them this is considered a thirst move and will seem unprofessional.Listen before you leap. When you have started to identify these people, follow, but be respectful. Listen for a while before you start engaging. Dont clog their mentions and dont tag them in on every thought you have. Accustom yourself to the way professionals in your field use Twitter and what kinds of conversations they have and dont have on their professional accounts. You can model your usage on those norms or let your own comfort levels dictate what you share, but respect the limits of others around engagement or details. Remember that someone who uses social media differently than you do is not doing it wrong, just differently.Be polite.Once you have been following for a while, you can start to respond or use other peoples threads as a jumping off point for your own thoughts on a topic. Begin to engage with hash tags specific to your field, or jump in on field-specific polls or conversations. Remember to be politeone thing that social media can be misleading about is the degree of intimacy you have with other social media users. Try not to overestimate your level of connection with someone, especially if they are a leader in your field. They probably field a lot of attempts at engagement every day from other users, some of which are likely to be hostile. If you argue or come out swinging, you are likely to be blocked immediately, and you will lose access not only to their social media stream and goodwill but also potentially to a valuable future connection.(Original) content is king.Try to mix up your responses and signal boosting with original content. Your engagement appeal is predicated mostly on your own thoughts, not those of other people that you retweet. When your follower count starts to rise, it will usually be because of original content, not because of other peoples content that you push out to your followers. Thats not to say that you should never retweet or respond, but that you should be careful to include original content in your timeline provide value for your followers in the same way that the people you follow provide value to you.Twitter has its own lingo.Last but not least, Twitter speaks its own language and failing to learn that language will end with you looking foolish at best. Dont be afraid to Google terms youre not familiar with before trying to use them, especially if they tend to be paired in ordinary Twitter interactions with memes or certain types of conversations or emoji, lest you receive the dreaded Steve Buscemi meme.CategoriesGraduate StudentsTagsExpert Advice - Graduate Students
